Another Award in the Hopper

Yep! That’s right. Volunteers with Keep the Rez Beautiful were tapped as the recipient of another award, given by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), a sub-agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

KRB received the 2011 NRCS Earth Team Partnership RC&D Award. This award was not for one particular project – just the year as a whole. Earth Team is a group of volunteers led by the NRCS to conserve, improve, and sustain our natural resources and environment.

NRCS started Earth Team in 1985, and volunteers across the state have improved the environment. Keep the Rez Beautiful was registered an Earth Team group, meaning we track service hours and projects. In 2011, the group logged nearly 1,000 hours through clean-ups, working WaterFest and other events, and planning Scenic Park. KRB members will receive this award January 19, 2012 at the annual meeting Mississippi Association of Conservation Districts.
