Keep the Rez Beautiful was tapped for another award – the Soil, Water and Air Conservationist of the Year by the Mississippi Wildlife Federation. We are humbled to be honored by such an important group. A few KRB team members attended MWF’s awards banquet Saturday and picked up the award, which features an eagle.
The MWF chose KRB because of our work to improve the Reservoir ecosystem for the fauna that call it home. The Reservoir is a hotspot for recreational fishing, and if we do our part and keep the lake pollutant free, the lake will be a healthier place for fish – and many other animals. We’re looking for ideas in how we can improve habitats in and around the Reservoir. Have any? Send to us at keeptherezbeautiful@gmail.com.
Also, to get you marinating on the subject of protecting wildlife… read this column by Murray Fulton, a soil conservationist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Rankin County.
