This is a great opportunity for high school students’ service hours. Bring a shovel and gardening gloves if you have access to them. Contact Deb at dveeder@mswf.org, Dave at dgthompson@mdot.state.ms.us, or Justin at jmfritscher@gmail.com for questions or more info. For more information on KRB, visit www.keeptherezbeautiful.org.
About this project: Keep the Rez Beautiful, a local nonprofit, was awarded a $2,000 beautification grant to enhance the Reservoir community. KRB held a charrette in September in which volunteer landscape architects worked with area landowners to develop a vision for this space. Now it’s time to make his vision a reality! We are using this event to commemorate Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup. Every spring, affiliates of Keep America Beautiful across the country gather to improve their communities. Additionally, this site is registered as a People’s Garden, an initiative of the U.S. Department of Agriculture to create community gardens. We are selecting a majority of native trees, benefiting local wildlife.
Big thanks! A special thank you Tree Source (off Old Highway 471 at Fannin) for supplying our trees. They worked with us to select the best natives and sold them to us at a very good price!
