UPS/ Keep America Beautiful Grant Makes a Difference at the Rez

KRB was honored to receive the UPS/Keep America Beautiful grant last year for tree planting. The grant funding was received to plant trees at the Turtle Point Nature Area, and other areas around the Ross Barnett Reservoir for erosion control, wildlife habitat, provide shade and to reduce carbon emissions.

The funding has provided the planting of 150 arbovitaes at the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District, Timberlake Campground. These trees will  help reduce carbon emissions and provide a buffer for the campers. Over 100 saw tooth oaks and over 100 fruit trees were also planted in other recreational areas as well.
