2014 Annual Report

THREE YEARS OF PROGRESS since our Keep America Beautiful certification date, May 6, 2011, exceeds our expectations and brings joy to the hearts of many volunteers who are passionate about “Treasuring the Rez!” Strength comes in numbers. You our members, sponsors and donors are investing in something you believe in. THANK YOU!

The Ross Barnett Reservoir and the Pearl River are becoming cleaner, greener and we have only just begun! Donations, grants and hard working volunteers make all of this possible. Keep America Beautiful is the largest volunteer based group in America. We are proud to say that with support from KAB, Keep Mississippi Beautiful, the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District and many other partners and friends we have not yet met; we will strive to protect and conserve our beautiful natural resources for generations to come.

We owe much gratitude to our former Chairperson Brenda Miller, who is now working with the U.S. Forest Service in Alaska. She helped pave the way and set standards that we will continually strive to meet. We wish her the best in Ketchikan. Debra Veeder, Adopt a Stream coordinator in Mississippi , now serves as our chairperson. She is passionate about natural resources and we appreciate her willingness to serve.

Thank you to our hard working Board of Directors and our Advisory Board. They give effortlessly to promote our projects.
This year, we received a prestigious award from Keep America Beautiful—the William Nash Award. It is given to a young affiliate for excellence in the implementation of the Keep America Beautiful system in their first three years. Several of us were honored to receive this award; the Great American Clean Up Innovation Award and the KAB President’s Circle of Recognition Award. WOW!

To whom much is given, much is required! Over and over again, we have stressed that you –KRB’s volunteers are the ones who deserve these awards. You show up to help plant trees and flowers, pick up litter on land and in water, paint signs, promote recycling and on and on. We value your input!

Through the Keep America Beautiful network, we have received grants from Lowes, Waste Management, UPS, and others. These funds will be used for erosion control (trees and native plants), recycling efforts, beautification and promoting clean water efforts.

We thank you for all that you to do to sustain our work, and gratefully acknowledge our partners, supporters, donors and members for your contributions to a cleaner, healthier Ross Barnett Reservoir! This annual report reflects from August, 2013 to August, 2014.
